Jodi has been involved in music throughout her life. She was brought up in the Southern U.S.. The music of the South greatly influenced her style of piano.

"There's a delightful groove that happens between the band and the dancers. It is very fulfilling to watch the dancers respond to the music, and to reach a level of hypnotic rhythm with the rest of the band."

Jodi is also a member of the contra dance band Tunescape, and the old time band Wily Milo, where her southern accent is featured on vocals.
