Growing up in rural Western NY, Anne Maroney was inspired by the spirited playing of musicians at her neighborhood "WNY Old-Time and Bluegrass Association." This early influence, combined with a growing curiosity of her own Irish ancestry and related Celtic music, enticed Anne to learn to play fiddle. Her passion for traditional dance music paved the way to fiddling under the guidance of local musician Joe Ochal. She later teamed up with the "Wild Geese" to promote Irish-American song and dance music in the Buffalo, NY area. When fellow band members departed for their homeland in Ireland, Anne immersed herself in contra dance music, attending local festivals and music camps. Anne incorporates a variety of styles in her playing which she hopes will make you you want to move your feet.
Anne is also a member of the exciting new group, Trefoyle!
